Please bring along your x-rays, referral and any other correspondence from your doctor or dentist. To avoid delays, please ensure you arrive at the scheduled appointment time. If you print out & fill in the patient questionnaire (below) beforehand this will streamline the process.
Consultations are typically 20 minutes. The procedure will be booked separately after the consultation, but for emergency cases Dr Henze can often operate on the same day.
Surgery may be performed under a local or general anaesthetic. If your surgery will be under a general anaesthetic, it’s very important to fast (no food or drink) for a minimum of 6 hours beforehand.
You may generally experience a number of expected post-operative signs and symptoms, including:
- Bruising of the facial skin and around the eyes
- Pain and /or discomfort
- Reduced mouth opening
- Jaw joint tenderness
- Bleeding from the wounds
- Wound infection (rare)
For most procedures, pain and discomfort can be managed with ice packs, paracetamol/anti-inflammatories, and a soft, cool diet.
